Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

About the Role:

This is a permanent part-time position working 21 hours per week, located at Uniting's Counselling and Mediation Centre in Penrith. The successful candidate will be available to work on Thursdays from 10am – 6pm and Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am – 5pm.

As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP), you will provide FDR services to families post-separation who are experiencing conflict and unable to reach agreements about children or property. Online video appointments, legally-assisted mediation, and child-inclusive practice are examples of innovative FDR approaches used by Uniting.

You will work with a dynamic team of FDRPs and therapists to support families holistically.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Accredited as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner or eligible for accreditation
  • Tertiary qualifications in law, psychology, or social work
  • Knowledge of family law legislation and community services, especially those relating to families experiencing relationship difficulties
  • Understanding of child protection issues
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team
  • Computer literacy
