Job Description
This full-time Legal Assistant role is for an intermediate professional looking to grow their career or a law student transitioning into the legal profession. If you thrive in a structured environment, enjoy routine work and have an eye for detail, this position will be ideal for you.
The role provides comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Principal and wider team of lawyers within our General Insurance (Recoveries) team. This fast-paced legal support role comes with competing priorities and deadlines.
You will work alongside experienced Legal Assistants, collaborating through a centralised shared mailbox to manage tasks efficiently and provide seamless support across the practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administrative Tasks: Assisting fee earners with good practice hygiene including WIP and pre-bills preparation, monthly billing cycles, debtor management and electronic filing.
- Client Service: Liaising with external and internal stakeholders, opening new matters, conducting conflict check searches, drafting and amending legal correspondence and documents.
- Reporting: Assisting with monthly reporting processes, preparing briefs and assisting with overflow tasks.
Requirements:
- Completion of Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a legal support or administrative role supporting a team of lawyers. Experience in insurance law or debt recovery is preferred but not essential.
