As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing environmental management plans that protect natural resources, prevent pollution, and promote sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement site-specific environmental management plans, including Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plans (PRCP).
- Provide environmental advice and guidance to operational and decommissioning teams to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into mine design, construction, and operational decisions.
- Collect, analyze, and manage data related to environmental, air, water, emissions, stormwater discharge, hazardous waste management, and over-water transfer of oil.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.
- Oversee and ensure completion of monitoring and reporting requirements under the Water Act 2000.
- Manage cultural heritage requirements under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003.
- Manage offset requirements under the Environment and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the mining industry.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance.
- Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems.
- Competence in environmental data analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of sustainability practices.
