Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

This is a dynamic and fast-paced role that requires strong multitasking skills and attention to detail. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities, including cleaning, repairs, and general upkeep.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean and maintain warehouse floors, offices, break room, and restrooms by operating self-propelled floor scrubbing machinery and by sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping.
  • Empties trash from designated areas throughout the warehouse. Operates garbage compactor and cardboard baler.
  • Checks daily schedule for assigned routine tasks and maintenance repair jobs.
  • Builds and repairs fixtures, structures, and displays. Measures, cuts, affixes, shapes, sands, and paints various materials. Purchases supplies and parts for maintenance and repair jobs.
  • Repairs plumbing problems, installs, and maintains plumbing fixtures.
  • Participates in janitorial duties. Follows departmental standards for cleanliness and performance of duties. Responds quickly to clean up spills.
  • Checks daily schedule for assigned tasks. Cleans and maintains grounds and building, performs roof checks.
  • Follows proper maintenance and general safety and security procedures.
  • Assists in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.
  • Provides prompt and courteous member service.
Requirements:
  • Communication - Articulates information, both verbally and in writing, in a way that can be easily understood by employees, members, and vendors. Actively listens to employees, members, and managers and takes appropriate action as necessary.
  • Member Service - Exhibits a professional demeanour toward others and makes sound decisions that reflect Costco's Code of Ethics.
  • Self Motivated - Well-organized and able to multi-task and adhere to deadlines while working independently with minimal supervision. Maintains a commitment to honesty, integrity, and high levels of efficiency and accuracy at all times. Accepts responsibility for his/her choices and decisions.
  • Team Player - Cooperates well with a variety of personalities and individuals and participates in a professional manner to accomplish the business goal. Willingness to perform tasks assigned by supervisors and to assist others as needed.
  • Flexibility - Adjusts positively to change in direction or assignment. Ability to do more than one task during a work shift. Proven ability to comply with new programs, methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Maintains grounds outside warehouse including blowing leaves, picking up litter, roof checks, and building maintenance.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assists with front-end duties as necessary.
  • Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
