Senior Community Housing Manager Role

This is a senior leadership role in community housing management that requires expertise in delivering high-quality services to residents and applicants.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing teams, specialist housing programs, and compliance returns. They will also be able to maximise rental income, provide expertise to staff on community housing requirements, and create policies and procedures for social and affordable housing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of housing management and allocations staff
  • Manage specialist housing programs, including Premiers Youth Initiative (PYI), HASI Plus, National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS), Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF), non-government funded rentals, and short-term housing initiatives
  • Prepare and submit National Regulatory System Community Housing compliance returns to maintain Registered Community Housing status
  • Maximise rental income by ensuring income-based rent reviews are carried out in line with relevant rental programs and encourage tenant take-up of Commonwealth Rent Assistance
  • Provide expertise and mentoring to Senior Services & Property & Housing staff on community housing requirements, rental policies, procedures, and Residential Tenancy legislation
  • Create, publish, and update policies and procedures for social and affordable housing
Requirements:
  • 5 or more years of experience, including 2 or more years of experience supervising a small team
  • Experience meeting legislative requirements under the Residential Tenancies Act and the Housing Act
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Services, Social Work, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of the Community Housing Sector and community housing rent policy
  • Understanding of social and affordable housing allocations
  • Knowledge of the legislative framework of the sector, including the Residential Tenancies Act
  • Experience managing stakeholder relations in stressful situations
  • Excellent communications skills - verbal and written
