Housing Australia (formerly named the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation) is the Commonwealth's independent housing authority, established as a corporate Commonwealth entity in 2018 under the Housing Australia Act to improve housing outcomes for Australians. Housing Australia sits within the Treasury portfolio and is governed by a Board of non-executive directors appointed by the Minister for Housing.

About the role

The Associate Director, Commercial reports to the Director, Housing Programs and will support various commercial, financial, transactional and governance related matters over the multiple competitive funding rounds of the HAFFF, NHAF and other programs as they arise.

Key responsibilities

·       Work collaboratively, cooperatively and inquisitively with the Housing Programs team, internal stakeholders (in particular, AHBA, NHIF, Legal, Risk and Compliance, and Strategy & Operations teams) and external advisors in the preparation, negotiation, review and finalisation of: market facing tender, internal evaluation, internal governance, and full form contract documentation

·       Lead (from time to time) and support the preparation, assessment and evaluation and finalisation of recommendations and reports for funding rounds

·       Lead (from time to time) and support transaction process strategies, commercial structuring, contract negotiations, and other ad hoc qualitative and quantitative analysis

·       Lead the Commercial team's transaction management tasks as they relate to complex and voluminous applications for HAFFF and NHAF funding, as well as other programs as they arise

·       Lead (from time to time), manage and support engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including the end-to-end procurement and engagement of external advisors

·       Build and strengthen relationships throughout Housing Australia and the residential real estate industry

Skills and experience

Essential

·       Relevant tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following fields: Property, Commerce, Law, Finance, Economics, or related discipline

· years relevant experience

·       Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to review and interpret various financial models, assess impacts and risks, and make sound recommendations

·       Excellent listening, communication (oral and written), presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interface between Housing Australia's internal teams and also external stakeholders

·       Energetic, self-motivated and ability to demonstrate sound commercial acumen in line with Housing Australia's values (Respect, Trust and Integrity, One Team and Excellence)

Desirable

·       Track record of successfully managing complex projects through to completion, with an execution orientated mindset and strong passion for business improvement

·       Advanced business writing skills for presentation to an executive audience, including Board level.

·       Relevant experience in corporate advisory (investment banking, consulting, etc), property, infrastructure/construction and/or government
