Job Description

The Communications Centre Manager is a critical role that oversees the operations of one of Ambulance Victoria's two Communication Centres. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff and ensuring efficient dispatch of ambulance resources, in line with relevant business rules, audit, and clinical standards.

This position requires strong leadership and management skills to monitor, report on, and review the performance of the Communications Centre. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve performance and achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs).

The Communications Centre Manager will also be responsible for arranging standby staff as necessary, developing and implementing communications processes, policies, and procedures, and providing guidance regarding the allocation of cases to the appropriate AV resources and information flow.

Regular reporting on the performance of the Communications Centre is also a key responsibility of this role.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous experience at a senior level in communications or operations within an ambulance, emergency service, health, or allied service delivery organisation
  • Tertiary qualification in a business, technology, or related discipline
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Relationship building skills
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated high-level understanding of call-taking and dispatch systems/communications technology
