Job Opportunity

The Business Development Manager role is an exciting opportunity to join a leading organisation in the fibre composite industry.

This full-time position is based in Geelong (VIC) or Seven Hills (NSW) offices or remotely within close proximity to our sites or customers.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end business development lifecycle, including identifying and pursuing new opportunities, building relationships with stakeholders, leading proposal development and submission, negotiating contracts, and facilitating handover to the project team.

You will also support cost estimation preparation required for proposals.

Please note that this role requires a current Defence Security Clearance or suitability to obtain NV1.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in line with business core competencies.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing market conditions to identify trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities in the Defence industry.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, military organisations, and prime contractors.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to align product and service offerings with customer needs.
  • Lead proposal development and submission for Defence contracts.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure profitable and strategic partnerships.
  • Maintain regular contact with Project Managers to ensure contractual obligations and business objectives are understood and communicated to the Operational Team.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
  • Develop business development strategies tailored to Defence sector requirements, aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting on sales pipeline, forecasts, and performance metrics to senior management.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in Sales or Business Development roles.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technical roles with customer-facing experience, preferably in Engineering.
  • Current Defence Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain NV1).
  • Experience and understanding of the Defence Market.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience with managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, drawings, CAD, and specifications.
  • Experience in the Manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in composite materials technology application.
  • Basic understanding of SolidWorks/CAD.
