**The ideal applicant will be someone who has**:
Demonstrated ability and experience with wildlife/exotics nursing skills, ideally including koalas
Demonstrated skills or the ability to rapidly develop skills in the identification, collection and handling of koala browse and plantation management
Demonstrated ability to work safely as part of a team conducting field work
Sound knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, the Nature Conservation Act 1992 and associated RegulationsDemonstrated ability to effectively work within a team and follow systems promoting performance management, ethical behaviour, decision making and professional development
Preference will be given to those with appropriate Veterinary Nursing qualifications
The applicant will hold a manual Drivers Licence.
To achieve the outcomes required by this role, you must be able to at a minimum:
1. Assist with daily operations at Moggill Koala Rehabilitation Centre or off site as required
2. Provide daily nursing care of koalas being rehabilitated at the Centre, including administering medications, providing food, cleaning enclosures, and observing the animal's health and behaviour
3. Assist with the collection of koala leaf if required
4. Provide veterinary nursing support for a variety of captive animals at our other government facilities and free ranging wildlife in remote areas as required.
5. Carry out a range of tasks to support the day-to-day running of the centre including carrying out basic maintenance of facilities and equipment
6. Perform administrative duties such as procurement, record keeping and data entry using the current medical databases ZIMS and Wildlife MD as well as Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
7. Prepare submissions, reports and briefings to line management as required
8. Liaise, consult and negotiate with special interest groups and stakeholders relevant to Wildlife Management issues
9. Answer inquiries and provide information regarding wildlife and to assist in resolving wildlife management issues, including problematic or dangerous wildlife in urban or public use areas
10. Undertake physical wildlife management activities such as capture, trapping, containment and release of wildlife as required by management.
11. Hold a current manual drivers license or be willing to acquire one
12. Be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before work commences
