Support Specialist - Violence Recovery

The opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals experiencing trauma and violence is now available. This specialist support worker role involves providing intensive, tailored, and trauma-informed support to address high-risk situations, ensure safety, and connect individuals with specialized services to support their long-term recovery and stability.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work closely with victim-survivors, utilizing advanced case management and goal setting skills to create personalized plans for success. Additionally, they will possess expertise in complex risk management and safety planning, as well as the ability to coordinate referrals to specialist services.

About You:
  • Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Community Services, or Psychotherapy, along with a postgraduate qualification in counselling or psychology.
  • Membership and credentials required: Registration with the relevant peak body for practitioners, Current Working with Vulnerable People Check, Completion of a National Police Check, Verification of the right to work in Australia.
  • Experience: Three years of experience in risk and needs assessment, safety planning, and trauma-informed support specific to family and domestic violence.
  • Skills: Trauma-informed support, Case management, Cultural safety and responsiveness, Motivational interviewing, Risk and needs assessment, Safety planning, Crisis intervention, Goal setting and action planning, Stakeholder collaboration, Referral coordination, Record-keeping and compliance.
