About the Role

This leadership position involves overseeing and responding to sustainable procurement, circular economy, and decarbonization issues affecting transportation infrastructure delivery, maintenance, and operation.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing sustainable procurement guidelines and contracts that align with departmental objectives for decarbonization and a circular economy.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice and deliver strategic solutions focused on whole-of-government sustainability initiatives. They will also lead state-wide responses to ministerial inquiries, cabinet submissions, and general enquiries, as well as prepare departmental and whole-of-government sustainability reports.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.

They should be able to think strategically, provide innovative solutions, and drive change within the organization.

  • Sustainable Procurement: Develop and implement effective sustainable procurement strategies and policies to support the department's decarbonization and circular economy goals.
  • Circular Economy Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of circular economy principles, low-carbon design, and reporting in systems and projects.
  • Relationship Building: Foster and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, other government agencies, and external organizations to advance sustainable procurement practices.
