Senior Pharmacist Role

This is a high-level pharmacist position for a remote Northern Territory hospital, requiring a minimum of 6 weeks commitment with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispensary Management: Oversee supply, PBS compliance, and system processes using Merlin Dispensing Software and MOSAIQ.
  • Clinical Services: Deliver medication advice and reviews across wards, including renal, oncology, paediatrics, emergency, and other specialist areas such as oncology, haematology, and vaccines.
  • Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and manage clinical pharmacists and technicians, providing daily supervision, delegation of tasks, and coaching junior staff.
  • Education: Provide training to pharmacy staff and education to nursing/medical staff on complex regimes and medication safety.
  • Quality & Safety: Drive audits, reporting, medication safety, and service improvements, representing the pharmacy in meetings and forums.
Requirements
  • Direct engagement with patients for counselling and education, close collaboration with doctors, nurses, and allied health staff.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and be flexible in managing competing demands, shifting priorities, and shared responsibilities.
