Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. This role will focus on providing expert legal advice on employment law matters, including enterprise agreements, awards, contracts, workplace investigations, and terminations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level legal advice on employment law matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and industrial relations developments, advising on implications for policy, practice, and risk.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related documentation, ensuring legal robustness and alignment with organizational values.
  • Partner with senior internal stakeholders across People & Culture, Risk, and Operations as well as external counsel and regulators to embed legal risk management into our workforce strategy.
  • Influence policy development and contribute to enterprise-wide decision-making on employment practices and compliance.
  • Lead or support responses to regulatory inquiries, disputes, and litigation involving employment matters.
  • Lead, coach, and develop legal professionals within the Employment Legal team.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Deep knowledge of employment law, industrial relations, and workplace legislation.
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating employment contracts, policies, and settlement agreements.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders, People & Culture, Risk, and external counsel.
  • Skilled in translating legal advice into clear, commercially relevant guidance.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies and processes (e.g. Fair Work Commission, AHRC).
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to ethical, people-centred legal practice.
