About the Team

Our continued investment in the Private Wealth business brings broader opportunities to our clients and leverages strong relationships with our corporate banking, business banking, and retail banking businesses.

This role will sit within Commonwealth Private's Private Wealth team, supporting the Private Wealth Distribution Team and working closely with the Investment Research Team, Investment Operations Team, and Platform Operations Team.

About the Opportunity

The Senior Manager Private Wealth Markets will operate as the manager of the execution services for Private Wealth and report to the General Manager – Private Wealth.

This role is a key contributor to the delivery of quality operational outcomes for the broader Private Wealth offering.

In this role, you will gain exposure to the full breadth of deliverables of the Private Wealth business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the execution of investments on behalf of clients across all asset classes, including direct equities, bonds, FX, and managed funds.
  2. Implement portfolios as they pertain to managed accounts and direct investments.
  3. Help embed risk and control governance uplift within the Private Wealth Team and broader business.
  4. Drive the review and uplift of internal processes and procedures to deliver operational efficiencies in investment execution and portfolio implementation.
  5. Contribute to the effective operation of governance forums, including the Product Management Committee and the Managed Account Working Group.
  6. Be an active and contributory member of the Private Wealth Leadership Team.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Analyse, develop, and enhance the operational framework for the Private Wealth Markets (Execution) Team within Private Wealth.
  2. Utilise agile ways of working to support efficient business operations and timely delivery of initiatives.
  3. Support the development of procedures and processes for efficient investment delivery and to ensure adherence to regulatory obligations.
  4. Support the delivery of exemplary Investment Governance across the Private Wealth offering.
  5. Understand and comply with all regulatory policies and requirements, all CBA Group policies and procedures, and all Commonwealth Private's Business Rules.
  6. Represent Commonwealth Private, including Commonwealth Private's investment approach, philosophy, and principles.
  7. Assist in delivering a tailored investment service to Commonwealth Private's clients, to meet their objectives, financial situation, and needs.
  8. Collaborate with Investment Directors and Private Bankers to identify clients that may benefit from our investment services.
  9. Deliver the ongoing Private Wealth service proposition agreed with the client and within parameters expected by the business, using your expertise and financial market experience to deliver sound investment outcomes to customers.
  10. Help drive FUA and FUM growth and other revenue-generating activities for the Private Wealth business.
  11. Keep meticulous electronic records and confirmations reflecting the client's investment selections and orders, ensuring accurate investment execution and portfolio implementation.
  12. Provide critical feedback on current market conditions across the asset classes to the Private Wealth team and customers.
  13. Support the General Manager in educating colleagues to understand each opportunity, provide factual information regarding market activity across the asset classes, to address Investment Director and client questions and facilitate any client interest.
About You

To be successful, you will have:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or Business.
  2. RG 146 General, RG 146 Securities, RG 146 Managed Investments, RG 146 FX, RG 146 Margin Lending would be preferable.
  3. 5+ years' experience as an investment execution professional, trader, sales-trader, DTR, investment adviser, investment/adviser associate, or relationship manager that executes trades or implements investments or portfolios as part of their relationship management role.
  4. Superior numeracy skills, acute attention to detail, and the ability to work swiftly and under pressure with vigilant accuracy.
  5. Good understanding of risk identification and risk management, particularly market/financial risk and operational risk.
  6. A solid understanding of wealth management ecosystems and processes including wrap platforms, equities, bonds, and FX execution platforms.
  7. A sound understanding of the investment process, the range of investment markets, and financial instruments.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Diligent data input skills, including a keen eye for detail.
  10. Strong numerical and analytical skills, and strong competency using Excel, Wrap platforms, and Equities trading platforms.
  11. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to take ownership of tasks.
  12. Experience in leading a small team.
