Job Opportunity

The Disney Legal team seeks an experienced Lead Counsel to support key business areas. As a member of this team, you will provide expert legal advice to drive growth and ensure compliance with local laws.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Advise on distribution, partnership, and promotional deals for Disney+ in Australia & NZ, ensuring compliance with Australian & NZ consumer laws.
  • Supervise the drafting and negotiation of key content licence agreements with free TV and subscription TV broadcasters, BVOD, VOD, and sell-through digital service providers.
  • Manage one direct report and act as a guide for other lawyers, providing coaching, mentoring, setting objectives, and ongoing performance review and development.
  • Drive the formulation, drafting, and implementation of legal and regulatory policies, best practice guidelines, and training for ANZ Disney+ and Content Sales business teams.
Requirements:
  • Significant experience (minimum 15+ years) as a qualified lawyer with both top-tier firm private practice experience and experience in an in-house legal department, focused on IP, commercial, and media and entertainment law.
  • Admitted to practice law in any State or Territory of Australia and holding a current Australian State or Territory practising certificate.
  • Proven experience advising and/or working in the Australian or comparable international media and entertainment industry, including digital product management and related marketing, and content distribution and monetisation.
