The Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer will play a vital role in providing culturally sensitive support to First Nations patients and families at St Vincent's Health Australia. This position is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community members.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advocacy and support to First Nations patients and families, as requested.
- Offer culturally specific secondary consultation to clinicians to improve patient care and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide culturally appropriate care.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Certificate IV or Diploma level qualifications in Aboriginal Primary Health Care, or Aboriginal Health Worker Certificate IV, or other relevant qualifications.
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- Experience in First Nations health care, with a focus on mental health care an advantage.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Victorian health system and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
- Current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain.
