
Lawyer in Employment Law and Industrial Relations

We are seeking a skilled Employment Lawyer to join a prominent in-house legal team.
Job DescriptionThe role involves advising on employment law matters, navigating complex industrial relations issues, and drafting workplace policies.
You will be working closely with the Head of Industrial Relations, Legal, HR, and business leaders on a range of complex workplace matters and projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in employment law and industrial relations within one of Australia's largest employers and most recognisable brands.
You'll be helping to manage legal risk and support compliance in a highly regulated space.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on employment law matters including employment agreements, awards, terminations, performance management, and workplace investigations.
- Navigate complex industrial relations issues, including union engagement and enterprise bargaining.
- Draft and review workplace policies, contracts, and dispute correspondence.
- Provide practical legal advice to HR and operational leaders on workforce strategy and compliance.
- Assist in responding to claims or regulatory investigations (e.g. Fair Work Commission matters).
- Monitor legislative changes and provide updates to stakeholders.
- Contribute to training and internal guidance materials.
- A qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with 4-8 years post-admission experience (PQE).
- A strong background in employment law with demonstrable industrial relations experience.
- Previous experience in a reputable law firm or in-house legal function.
- Excellent communication and advisory skills with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial outcomes.
- Comfortable working with HR, senior leaders, and external counsel.
- Proactive, professional, and adaptable in a fast-paced setting.
- Full Australian working rights.
