Job Summary

The Financial Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the financial needs of parishes by providing expert assistance and guidance. This position is responsible for ensuring seamless payroll processing, technical support, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

This role requires a strong commitment to the Catholic faith and an understanding of the structure and workings of the Catholic Church. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A personal commitment to the Catholic faith.
  • An understanding of the Catholic Church's structure and workings.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant role.
  • A relevant degree qualification pertinent to the role and a willingness to further their education.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Competence in a range of information technology applications.
  • Proficiency in collaborative tools like Google Docs and Office 365.
  • Experience using Xero or similar software.
  • Experience using PADRE or other CRM software.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage complex workloads and work independently/teams.

Requirements: A current driver's license.

About the Role

This role involves assisting with end-to-end payroll processing, providing technical support, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and have a strong commitment to the Catholic faith.

Responsibilities
  1. Payroll Processing: Assist with processing payroll for parish and clergy, including monthly duties.
  2. Technical Support: Provide technical support and advice regarding payroll systems to ensure they are properly maintained.
  3. Compliance: Ensure payroll compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  4. Financial Reporting: Assist parishes with ad-hoc matters relating to finance and financial reporting.
  5. Bank Reconciliations: Support parishes with bank reconciliations.
  6. System Administration: Administer finance and sacramental systems.
  7. Australian Tax Office: Assist with GST/PAYG lodgements and managing external audits.
  8. Finance Software: Assist with installing, enhancing or upgrading finance software.
  9. Asset Management: Manage asset and property related queries, ensuring record keeping is up-to-date and valuations are current.
  10. Recruitment: Support parishes with recruitment of staff and be a liaison with the ATO or OOB on HR/compliance matters if required.
