Job Title: Aboriginal Youth Support Worker

This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.

  • Work collaboratively with families and carers to provide culturally safe support and mentoring.
  • Contribute to the development of assessment and treatment plans that cater to the diverse needs of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people.
  • Identify and address barriers to accessing care, working closely with headspace and other external agencies.
  • Build relationships and referral pathways between headspace Werribee and Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs).

You will be passionate, energetic, and determined to make a difference in health and wellbeing outcomes for young people. The following criteria must be met for consideration:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background and demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people and their families.
  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal Health Care Practice or relevant post-secondary qualifications in Health.
  • Sensitivity to experiences that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people may have had.
  • Capacity to develop effective working relationships, collaborations, and partnerships within the broader community service system.
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively, engage creatively with young people.
