Welcome to this exciting opportunity as a Safety Systems and Training Operations Manager at Melbourne Airport, one of Australia's leading companies. We're experiencing rapid growth and expansion, with ambitious projects underway including the development of a third runway and state-of-the-art terminals.

This role plays a key part in our safety team, responsible for managing our safety management system (SMS) and training needs across all levels of the business. The primary objective is to ensure that all safety practices comply with regulatory standards, promote a proactive safety culture, and equip employees with the necessary skills to operate safely.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety System Development: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our safety management system to meet legal requirements and industry best practices.
  • Audit and Compliance: Oversee safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance checks to ensure the highest level of safety across all operations.
  • Strategic Input: Provide strategic input to senior leadership on safety issues, trends, and potential areas of risk.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to ensure that safety policies and training align with operational goals.
  • SMS Management: Ensure that our SMS is up to date and aligned with both regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Safety Technologies: Lead the integration of new safety technologies and tools to enhance safety monitoring, reporting, and compliance.
  • Performance Metrics: Monitor and analyse safety performance metrics to track the effectiveness of safety initiatives and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements include a degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, professional safety certification, at least 5 years of experience in safety systems management and training, and proven ability to implement, manage, and improve safety management systems.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $120,000 - $150,000 per annum.
