About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Reliability Engineer to join our team at Xero. As a key member of our Data Reliability team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the scalability and reliability of our cloud-based data platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with product teams to provide technical guidance on architectural decisions and database design.
  • Apply your expertise to resolve complex issues and improve the overall reliability of our data platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical debt and improve database performance.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation to ensure knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
  • Participate in incident response and on-call rotations to ensure timely resolution of production issues.
What You'll Bring
  • 3-5 years of experience with highly available cloud data platforms, preferably AWS, with a focus on relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres).
  • Experience with logging and monitoring solutions such as DPA, New Relic, and Sumo Logic.
  • Strong understanding of technical debt and its impact on application and database performance.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
