Senior Structural Design Professional
Job Summary:In this role, you will collaborate to plan, develop, coordinate and review project civil / structural design work. You will work in a 3D modelling environment, produce drawings, facilitate discussions, communicate complex technical issues, and prepare civil / structural design estimates and work plans. Your recommendations will ensure designs and work plans are in accordance with project scope, schedule, regulations, and standards.
Key responsibilities include planning, developing, coordinating and reviewing design work within a small-size civil / structural design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business units.
Responsibilities also include producing 3D models, drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of concrete structures, foundations, and steel detailing.
You will also coordinate and interface as directed with the day-to-day technical work of civil / structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
Complex technical issues will be communicated and solutions recommended to upper management.
Civil / structural design estimates and work plans will be prepared or overseen in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget.
Implementation and performance will be managed accordingly.
Client representatives will be coordinated with as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.
Critical civil / structural engineering drawings and calculations will be reviewed along with bid summaries.
Civil / structural designers and drafters will be mentored by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
Civil / structural systems designs will be ensured to comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Key qualifications for this position include a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10 - 13 years of relevant experience OR 14 - 17 years of relevant work experience.
Required knowledge and skills include design of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings (covered, opened), material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations, retaining walls, etc.
Design and modelling of concrete and structural steel in 3D environment (e.g. Tekla, Smart3D).
Assisting in preparation of discipline material take-offs.
Work in 2D environment while preparing drawings (e.g. Microstation).
Leading a small structural design team.
Interaction with broader project team including interfaces with other disciplines.
Education and Experience Requirements:- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent)
- 10 - 13 years of relevant experience
- OR 14 - 17 years of relevant work experience
