NSW Health Pathology is currently seeking a Senior Hospital Scientist in Charge of Section to lead the Virology Section in the Microbiology Laboratory at Westmead Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality, cost, and operational integrity of the Section, as well as regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management of scientific, technical, and support staff
  • Overseeing testing and associated activities and logistics for the Virology Section
  • Ensuring quality, cost, and operational integrity of the Section
  • Maintaining regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services
Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks and relevant standards
  • Managerial skills with experience in laboratory operations, administration, and budgeting
  • Advanced knowledge of pathology laboratory information systems
  • Extensive high-level knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory
  • Sound understanding of legislation, policies, and requirements impacting the laboratory environment
