
Forensic Mental Health Consultant

The role of a Forensic Clinical Specialist is to provide expert mental health consultancy and support best practices within Mercy Mental Health & Wellbeing Services Staff.
This position requires an individual with extensive experience in community mental health settings, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, and a commitment to excellence in their field.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the complexities involved in forensic mental health and be able to provide effective solutions and strategies to support staff and consumers.
Key Responsibilities- Provide resource support and guidance to staff to enhance service responses for consumers presenting with multiple complex presentations.
- Build capacity and promote best practice within Mercy Mental Health & Wellbeing Services Staff.
- Registration with APHRA as a Psychologist or Occupational Therapist with eligibility for endorsement or a Registered Nurse undergraduate psychiatric nursing program.
- Approved Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- A minimum of 5 years post graduate clinical experience in relevant community mental health settings.
- Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997, Sentencing Act 1991, and other relevant legislation.
