Job Summary

The role of a Forensic Clinical Specialist is to provide expert mental health consultancy and support best practices within Mercy Mental Health & Wellbeing Services Staff.

This position requires an individual with extensive experience in community mental health settings, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, and a commitment to excellence in their field.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the complexities involved in forensic mental health and be able to provide effective solutions and strategies to support staff and consumers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide resource support and guidance to staff to enhance service responses for consumers presenting with multiple complex presentations.
  • Build capacity and promote best practice within Mercy Mental Health & Wellbeing Services Staff.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  1. Registration with APHRA as a Psychologist or Occupational Therapist with eligibility for endorsement or a Registered Nurse undergraduate psychiatric nursing program.
  2. Approved Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  3. A minimum of 5 years post graduate clinical experience in relevant community mental health settings.
  4. Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997, Sentencing Act 1991, and other relevant legislation.
