This project aims to investigate the development of social and emotional competencies that help individuals navigate risk factors and develop healthy coping mechanisms. By building on positive youth development literature and classical Greek philosophy, we can identify key skills and knowledge that contribute to better mental health outcomes in adolescents and young adults.
The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team at a leading national addiction treatment, training and research centre. They will have access to a wealth of data and resources, including Australian, US, and international longitudinal studies.
Under the supervision of an experienced researcher, the candidate will design and evaluate interventions aimed at preventing problem behaviours and improving mental health outcomes. This project has the potential to lead to systemic and targeted interventions that improve local and global health.
To be eligible, candidates must meet minimum requirements for admission to a PhD. They should also submit a cover letter, CV, and academic transcript as part of their application.
