About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of People Communications and Reputation to join our team at Virgin Australia. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and execution of our group-wide internal communications, with a focus on promoting and protecting our company's reputation internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies to build our reputation across all employees
  • Design and communicate strategies to ensure our Corporate Communications effort, including reputation management, can be monitored and performance accurately measured
  • Oversee the adoption of best practice communications strategies and tools
  • Curate and explain our Virgin Australia story to our people, ensuring integrated campaigns and advocacy are developed across the Corporate Affairs and Consumer PR teams
  • Advise ELT/Senior stakeholders on communications opportunities, as well as risk and issue mitigation
  • Oversight and management of our Crisis Management preparations as they relate to internal communications
  • Build and lead employee advocacy, ensuring employees feel part of the wider Virgin Australia community
  • Plan, deliver, and assess the impact of internal and external communications campaigns, content, and programs
  • Manage the strategy for our overall channels' infrastructure
Requirements
  • Degree in Communication
  • 10+ years experience in a senior internal and external communications role
  • Experience working within a large and complex, ideally ASX-listed, consumer-facing business
  • Proven ability to manage a busy and diverse portfolio of issues, including crisis management
  • Strategic thinker and effective influencer with proven ability to interact with senior leaders
  • Deep internal and corporate communications knowledge and experience
  • Organisational agility
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing complex employee groups
  • Crisis Management within a regulated and complex operating environment
  • C-Suite Communications strategy development
  • Experience with high-profile public-facing brands with consumer PR focus
  • Self-starter who can work through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Passionate about aviation/travel
  • Comfortable embracing transformational change
