We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our roasting operations, ensuring the highest quality of coffee every day.

About the Role

This key position oversees all aspects of roasting, including production scheduling, quality control, and equipment maintenance. The successful candidate will work closely with our green bean team, support site operations, and champion our company's flavour and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals in roasting and quality operations
  • Own and implement efficient roasting schedules and green bean inventory management systems
  • Develop and maintain robust quality control processes, including tastings, cuppings, grading, and reporting
  • Oversee the performance of roasting plant equipment and develop preventative maintenance plans
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and manage external relationships with equipment suppliers
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including coffee, operations, and commercial teams
  • Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, sustainability, and product consistency
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP, and quality certification standards

This is a hands-on role with national influence, requiring someone who understands the craft and science of roasting and is passionate about building a quality-driven coffee culture.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in coffee or related production/quality roles
  • A proven track record in roasting operations and quality assurance
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in leading teams and training others in process and best practice
  • A deep understanding of green bean handling, equipment maintenance, and supply planning
  • Experience working with preventative maintenance and continuous improvement tools
  • Skill in cupping, sensory evaluation, and flavour profiling (Q Grader preferred)
  • Knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and compliance frameworks
  • A methodical approach to troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
