Lead Coffee Specialist

About this role:

We are looking for a skilled Lead Coffee Specialist to oversee the day-to-day coffee operations in our Melbourne café. This is a hands-on, customer-facing position where you will set and maintain the highest standards of coffee quality while fostering a positive team culture.

You will act as the coffee lead within the venue, driving quality and consistency across every shift, supporting barista development, and playing a key leadership role on the floor. When the Venue Manager is not present, you will step into a supervisory capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee coffee operations, ensuring high-quality beverages and a clean working environment.
  • Mentor junior team members, promoting growth and development within the team.
  • Collaborate with FOH and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Drive sales and revenue growth through effective upselling and suggestive selling techniques.
  • Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, providing insights to inform business decisions.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a senior or lead barista in a fast-paced café environment.
  • Strong understanding of calibration, recipe consistency, and workflow management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving business results.
