About the Role

This position will be focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences and providing administrative support to the Environmental Health and Regulation section at Townsville City Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and effective support to ensure that legislative and regulatory requirements are met, while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer enquiries and provide specialist advice to a wide-ranging customer base.
  • Generate, monitor, and complete financial processing transactions, including procuring goods and services, managing the portable and attractive item register, and coordinating travel arrangements.
  • Ensure that the Schedule of fees and charges are administered accurately, including the raising of all relevant fees and charges, collection of payments, and receipting.
  • Interpret and filter customer service requests for inspection, investigation, and/or scheduling of works, ensuring that priority levels are assigned in accordance with the sectional priority matrix.
  • Administrate, investigate, and accurately process relevant applications and/or projects that support the Section's requirement to meet relevant legislative and regulatory timeframes.
  • Deliver an outcomes-focused and value-adding culture where leaders and staff take personal accountability for delivering on Council's Corporate Plan and policies.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping (including decisions, recommendations, and resolutions) in the appropriate system in accordance with all record keeping and operational standards.
About You
  • You will be able to provide excellent customer service and specialist advice to a wide-ranging customer base, including external and internal customers, government departments, executive leadership, Mayor, and Councillors.
  • You will be willing to work with and around animals, as the role sits part of the team that provides support to our Animal Care and Adoption Centre.
  • You will be able to generate, monitor, and complete financial processing transactions, including procuring goods and services, managing the portable and attractive item register, coordinating travel arrangements, credit card reporting/balancing.
  • You will be able to ensure that the Schedule of fees and charges are administered accurately, including the raising of all relevant fees and charges, collection of payments, and receipting.
  • You will be able to interpret and filter customer service requests for inspection, investigation, and/or scheduling of works, ensuring that priority levels are assigned in accordance with the sectional priority matrix.
  • You will be able to administrate, investigate, and accurately process relevant applications and/or projects that support the Section's requirement to meet relevant legislative and regulatory timeframes.
