About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Assistant Director, Finance Branch. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the National Indigenous Australians Agency and contribute to the development of our financial management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the Executive and senior leadership team on budget planning, costings, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial governance frameworks and policies to ensure compliance with the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework.
  • Manage the Agency's appropriation through the Central Budget Management System and ensure effective financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with business areas to provide expert advice on portfolio, group, and branch budget planning, costings, and financial reporting.
  • Identify and analyze emerging trends and drivers in finance and budget management, and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive experience in staff management and financial governance, with a tertiary qualification in finance or accounting.
  • Cultural competency and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain a Baseline Vetting (Protected) security clearance.
