Retail Development Lead

This is a pivotal role within the retail operations team, enabling retail to deliver outstanding projects to a high standard.

The Retail Development Lead manages all estate optimisation, transformation, delivery, operational, and technology projects. This includes initial scoping, project management, communication, and implementation, ensuring deliverables and timelines are always met.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Managing key projects/systems such as operations, technology, and delivery.
  • Frequently leading on major programmes of work, requiring excellent project management, good governance, and direction setting.
  • Supporting and feeding into the management of operational and capital expenditure projects.
  • Managing relationships and driving efficiencies, value, and output with multiple key suppliers.
  • Fostering and developing a wide network of connections within the organisation.
  • Fostering close relationships with field colleagues, ensuring their views are understood, reflected to leadership, and acted upon.
  • Ensuring that technology and systems within retail are robust, fit for purpose, deliver value, and are efficient.
  • Ensuring that the retail estate aligns with all safety and compliance standards and audits for the safety of customers and staff.

Key requirements include:

  • Experience in technology, operations, delivery, and maintenance fields.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Operational acumen and quality focus.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and reporting experience.
  • Able to work through challenges to achieve programme goals.
  • Able to work autonomously, generating and developing ideas from concept to delivery.
  • Confident communicator, able to update senior leadership on initiatives and performance.
  • Proven motivational key player, resilient and positive, bringing the team together.
