Head of Architecture

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Architecture to lead and grow our architecture practice. As a key member of our Technology team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing data-driven, flexible, and cost-effective technology solutions that align with our business strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and grow a talented team of Principal and Solution Architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and innovation.
- Provide mentorship and empower your team to continuously improve architecture practices.
- Define and drive the enterprise capability models, technology roadmaps, and strategic plans for AGL's data platforms, cloud infrastructure, network (OT, Corporate, Telco), and Dev Ops tools.
- Establish and maintain architecture frameworks, blueprints, reusable patterns, and governance models.
- Ensure alignment with both BAU and project delivery processes, supporting waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Lead the creation of a cohesive architecture for data and enabling platforms, bringing clarity and focus even in ambiguous environments.
- Ensure alignment with business units across AGL while encouraging innovation and purposeful experimentation.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CIO, GM Architecture, and other executive leaders.
- Translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders and drive strategic decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation.
- Continuously review and optimise architecture practices, accelerators, and guardrails.
- Use emerging technologies and industry trends to guide executive decision-making and ensure that AGL remains at the forefront of technological innovation.
We are looking for a proven leader with a deep understanding of platform engineering, data mesh, microservices, and network strategy. You will have expertise in Telco, Broadcast Media, or Utilities, with hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, Dev Ops tools, and production platforms. Strong leadership skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and a passion for innovation are essential.
