Occupational Health and Safety Expert

The role of Occupational Health and Safety Expert is pivotal in driving a culture of safety across the organisation. As a key member of the People and Safety Branch, you will play a crucial part in shaping the organisational approach to health and safety.

This includes:

  • Leading OHS Services: Developing and implementing organisational wide processes, systems and programs to ensure the organisation achieves its safety commitment;
  • Culture of Safety: Driving strategic links with core and operational practices, developing an OHS Work Plan that aligns with broader organisational strategies and objectives;
  • Team Leadership: Guiding, coaching and supporting a small team of OHS professionals, including WorkCover and Return to Work functions, to ensure efficient and effective work approaches;

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Substantial Experience: In a similar OHS/Safety role, with leading experience in a team environment;
  • Relevant Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in OHS, with substantial experience in a similar role;
  • Local Government Knowledge: Local government knowledge and experience is highly advantageous;
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional team working and collaboration skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced and complex work environment;
  • Analytical Skills: Highly developed analytical and report/policy writing skills;
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to respond to key priorities as they arise while maintaining core operations, excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills;

A Covid Vaccination certificate and probity checks will be required.
