Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to take on the role of Process Lead for intricate and demanding water and wastewater projects throughout their entire lifecycle. This includes planning, options development, tendering, design, construction, and commissioning phases. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our Commissioning Manager to oversee the commissioning of treatment processes for our clients. This is a permanent full-time position that will involve site-based work during project delivery and office-based work in Sydney during the completion of commissioning activities. This pivotal role will be integrated within our diverse, close-knit, and collaborative team on-site, regularly interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders, including designers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in design reviews and workshops to ensure all process and commissioning requirements are incorporated into the design of various water and wastewater processes for liquids, solids, and odour streams.
  • Facilitate the timely delivery of process-related engineering outputs from designers.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback for cost-effective enhancements, emphasizing innovation, circular economy principles, and carbon neutrality.
  • Verify and validate overall designs, process guarantee requirements, and control philosophies while identifying risks and opportunities during commissioning and handover.
  • Conduct reviews and provide input on key packages and offerings from technology providers to ensure process guarantees are upheld.
  • Compile and prepare commissioning documentation to ensure a smooth and timely plant handover.
  • Support programming efforts (e.g., SMART) to ensure safe commissioning and plant operation under various scenarios.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of equipment and control systems to assure quality in processes and controls.
  • Plan and implement prerequisite tasks and documentation.
  • Assist in commissioning activities, including Dry, Wet, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, SAT, Operational readiness, and process proving.
  • Optimize performance for treatment quality improvement, power, and chemical consumption.
  • Conduct operator training, facilitate plant handover, and support decommissioning and safe disposal of unused assets as necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively in planning and managing quality, time, and budget for commissioning activities and documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain essential correspondence, documentation, and technical reports.
  • Provide engineering support to assist the Pre-contract team with designs, bids, and tender submissions.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in process engineering, construction, and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) and statutory requirements.
  • Expertise in various treatment processes and infrastructures.
  • Detail-oriented, creative, accountable, and responsible with a proactive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills with effective writing abilities to address project-specific techno-commercial issues promptly.
  • Experience with HMI and SCADA interfaces is advantageous.
