Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to serve as a Process Lead on intricate water and wastewater projects throughout their lifecycle, including planning, options development, tendering, design, construction, and commissioning. This permanent full-time position will involve site-based work during project delivery and office-based activities in Sydney as commissioning tasks conclude. This pivotal role will be integrated within our collaborative and diverse team on-site, frequently interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders, including designers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in design reviews and workshops to ensure all process and commissioning requirements are incorporated into the design of various water and wastewater processes.
  • Facilitate the timely delivery of process-related engineering outputs from designers.
  • Assess and provide recommendations for cost-effective enhancements focusing on innovation, sustainability, and carbon neutrality.
  • Verify and validate overall designs, process guarantee requirements, and control philosophies while identifying risks and opportunities during commissioning and handover.
  • Conduct reviews and offer insights on key packages and offerings from technology providers to ensure back-to-back process guarantees.
  • Compile and prepare commissioning documentation to ensure a smooth and timely plant handover.
  • Support programming efforts to ensure safe commissioning and plant operation under various scenarios.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of equipment and control systems to assure quality in processes and controls.
  • Plan and implement prerequisite tasks and documentation.
  • Assist in commissioning activities, including Dry, Wet, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), operational readiness, and process proving.
  • Optimize performance for treatment quality, power, and chemical consumption.
  • Provide operator training, facilitate plant handover, and support decommissioning and safe disposal of unused assets as necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively in planning and managing quality, time, and budget for commissioning activities and documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain essential correspondence, documentation, and technical reports.
  • Share knowledge and provide support to a diverse range of internal and external customers with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Offer engineering support to assist the Pre-contract team with designs, bids, and tender submissions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in process engineering, construction, and commissioning of water and wastewater facilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Expertise in various treatment processes and infrastructures.
  • Detail-oriented, innovative, accountable, and responsible with a proactive attitude.
  • Strong communication skills with effective writing abilities to address project-specific techno-commercial challenges promptly.
  • Experience with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA systems is advantageous.
