Clinical Governance Lead Job Description

The Clinical Governance Lead is a key role within our organization, responsible for developing and implementing clinical governance frameworks and processes to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and compliance across clinical operations.

This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in patient care delivery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and refining clinical governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to support clinical operations.
  • Leading and supporting quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, satisfaction, and safety.
  • Recommending and overseeing the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to prevent adverse events and mitigate potential risks.
  • Collaborating with regulatory affairs and compliance teams to interpret regulations, assess compliance gaps, and develop remediation plans.
  • Providing education, training, and support to clinical staff on clinical governance principles, quality improvement methodologies, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Medicine, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Advanced degree preferred.
  • Clinical licensure or certification (e.g., RN, MD) required.
  • Proven experience in clinical governance, quality assurance, or risk management within a healthcare setting, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance principles, quality improvement methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex clinical data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate clinical governance initiatives within established timelines and budgets.
