Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about firefighting and emergency services. As an Auxiliary Firefighter, you will be responsible for responding to fire and other emergency incidents, promoting community safety and emergency preparedness through education activities, and developing and maintaining competencies through regular drills and training courses.

Key Accountabilities

  • Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team, while adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to education activities and providing valuable insights to local communities.
  • Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training sessions.
  • Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities, ensuring a clean and organized environment for all personnel.
  • Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities, guaranteeing optimal performance at all times.
  • Participate in incident reporting and general station administration, supporting seamless operations.
  • As an integral part of the station team, demonstrate a positive team approach in all work activities, fostering strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Australian Permanent Resident Status
  • Manual C Class driver's licence
  • Employers written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
  • Ability to commit to attending 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker or have non-routine hours.
  • Willingness to obtain an MRV licence within 12 months of employment at their own expense.
  • Capacity to participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 AUD, depending on qualifications and experience. QFES offers a range of benefits, including paid training, uniform allowance, and access to professional development opportunities.
