Job Title

We are seeking a Senior Technical Officer to lead operations in our Advanced Prototyping Facility.

About the Role
  • This position will oversee the safe, efficient, and creative use of the facility.
  • The successful candidate will enable students, researchers, and industry partners to design, produce, and test prototypes that drive forward new technologies and ideas.
Key Responsibilities
  • The Senior Technical Officer will coordinate and schedule prototyping jobs with students, academics, and industry partners.
  • Bespoke parts and prototypes will be designed and produced using advanced equipment.
  • Technical advice will be provided across mechanical, electrical, chemical, and architectural design projects.
  • Lead inductions, training, and safe use of workshop equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS procedures and maintain workshop assets.
  • Support research, teaching, and commercialisation activities through technical expertise.
Requirements
  • A technologically adept problem solver with a collaborative mindset and a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Ability to generate a strong sense of team spirit, co-operation and collaboration within and across teams.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and an interdisciplinary way of working.
What We Offer
  • A full-time position until June 2027 at a HEW 7 Higher Education Level located at Callaghan Campus.
  • The remuneration for this position is commensurate with skills and experience.
