Trainee in Production Operations

Overview of the Position:
As a Trainee in Production Operations at Cement Australia, you will embark on a journey to master the operation of processing plant machinery in a secure, efficient, and productive manner. Your role will involve providing essential technical assistance to our site personnel. Throughout your training, you will rotate through various departments, including but not limited to our Laboratory, Control Room, Dispatch, and East End Mine site. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing work processes, procedures, and practices across the site, including participation in our scheduled maintenance activities.
What to Anticipate:
As a Trainee in Production Operations, here’s a glimpse of your daily responsibilities:
- Initial Days – Familiarize yourself with our largest manufacturing facility and meet your colleagues (no prior knowledge of the site is expected; there is much to learn about our operations).
- After One Month – You will delve into safety protocols, machinery operation, and gain familiarity with the various departments' functions.
- Six Months In – By this stage, you will have acquired hands-on experience and insight into the diverse tasks within our production team.
Your rotations will cover the following departments, allowing you to understand their critical roles in Cement Australia's success over the past 40+ years:
Laboratory | Assist Lab Technicians in quality assurance and raw material testing.
Control Room | Engage with Panel Operators to learn about cement mill and kiln operations.
Production Services | Support the Production team in their daily tasks.
Dispatch | Gain knowledge on the processes involved in packaging and dispatching our products.
East End Mine | Collaborate with Operators in the raw material extraction process.
Production Planning | Work alongside the Planning team to understand site planning functions and processes.
Candidate Profile:
- Trade qualification or current apprenticeship
- Completion of Year 12 or relevant pre-vocational qualification
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
- Proficient in computer applications
- Able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors
- Willingness to work flexible, rostered 12-hour shifts (day and night)
- Team-oriented with the capability to work independently when necessary
