About the Position:
As a Cement Production Intern at Cement Australia, you will embark on a journey to master the operation of processing plant machinery in a secure, efficient, and productive manner. Your role will involve providing technical assistance to our on-site personnel. Throughout your internship, you will engage with the Production team across various departments, including but not limited to our Laboratory, Control Room, Dispatch, and our East End Mine site. Your contributions will play a vital role in enhancing work processes, procedures, and practices on-site, including participation in our scheduled maintenance activities.
What to Anticipate:
As a Cement Production Intern, here’s a glimpse of your daily activities:
- Initial Days – Meet your colleagues and familiarize yourself with our extensive manufacturing facility (No prior knowledge of the site is expected; there is much to learn about our operations).
- After One Month – By this time, you will be well-versed in our safety protocols, the safe operation of machinery, and the overall functioning of various departments within the facility.
- After Six Months – Having gained experience within our production team, you will start to acquire hands-on experience with the diverse tasks involved.
Your rotations will commence in each of the departments mentioned below, allowing you to understand how each unit contributes to Cement Australia’s consistent delivery of high-quality products over the past four decades:
Laboratory | Assist Lab Technicians in the quality assurance and testing of raw materials.
Control Room | Observe and collaborate with Panel Operators to gain insights into cement mill and kiln operations.
Production Services | Support our Production team members in their daily tasks.
Dispatch | Develop an understanding of the support required for our team in the packaging and distribution of our products.
East End Mine | Assist Operators in the extraction of raw materials.
Production Planning | Engage with the Planning team to gain a comprehensive understanding of site planning functions and processes.
About You:
- Trade qualification or current apprenticeship
- Completion of Year 12 or relevant pre-vocational qualification
- Strong numerical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
- Proficient in computer applications
- Able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors
- Willingness to work rostered, 12-hour shifts (day and night)
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when necessary
