We are seeking a skilled Learning Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will work closely with classroom teachers to meet the diverse learning needs of our students.
Job Summary
The Learning Support Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the evaluation and assessment of student learning needs, attending meetings with parents, teachers, and specialists, and working with students under the direction of the classroom teacher. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to maintain confidentiality, and adhere to individual classroom rules and expectations.
About the Role
- Assist with evaluating and assessing the learning needs of students while under the direction and/or supervision of the classroom teacher.
- Attend meetings involving parents, teachers, and/or specialists to discuss student progress and needs.
- Work with students according to lesson plans given by the classroom teacher.
- Provide physical assistance to students where necessary and appropriate.
- Participate in planning days with team teachers to discuss student needs.
- Support students with social/emotional needs through supervising time-outs and developing close relationships with students.
- Adhere to individual classroom rules, expectations, and behaviour management plans.
- Report regularly to the classroom teacher on student progress.
Requirements
- Hold a Working with Children Blue Card.
- Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
