About this role
The Indigenous Hospital Liaison Officer is a vital position that provides direct support and assistance to clinicians and First Nations patients, families, and communities. The primary goal of this role is to deliver culturally appropriate healthcare to First Nations Women in the maternity ward and children while they are in-patients.
Key aspects of this role include:
- Providing information and resources that enhance the ability of First Nations patients to make informed health care decisions and navigate through the complex healthcare system.
- Facilitating a seamless transition between service providers on behalf of and in consultation with First Nations peoples.
This position requires a clear understanding of contemporary First Nations cultures, protocols, and health-related procedures. Effective communication and cultural sensitivity are essential skills for success in this role.
Mandatory requirements for this position include vaccination against certain vaccine-preventable diseases as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16.
