Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to assume the role of Watchhouse Officer, responsible for overseeing watchhouse functions, including administration, supervision, and monitoring of persons in custody and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out watchhouse duties relevant to the administration, supervision, and monitoring of individuals in custody and visitors.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and files pertaining to prisoners and their needs.
  • Operate and monitor electronic surveillance and movement control systems to ensure a secure environment.
  • Maintain comprehensive watchhouse records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the processing of individuals received into custody, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
  • Supervise and provide for the welfare, comfort, and security of prisoners, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Document and track prisoner health requirements and medical needs to ensure timely attention and care.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Open C Class Driver's License is mandatory for this position.
  • The Assistant Watchhouse Officer is required to wear an official uniform and adhere to the QPS Code of Dress and Appearance at all times.
  • Adherence to a 24-hour, 7-day shift work rotational roster is essential for this role.
