Job Opportunity:

    We seek a highly skilled Principal Engineer to manage the planning and delivery of rehabilitation, maintenance, and safety improvement works across the region.

  • Lead the delivery of infrastructure maintenance and rehabilitation projects
  • Represent the organization on construction contracts and oversee procurement, tendering, and contract administration
  • Provide high-level technical and engineering advice to ensure project success, value for money, and adherence to standards
  • Monitor progress reporting, financial forecasting, and quality assurance
  • Oversee the development and implementation of project documentation and ensure alignment with safety, environmental, and legislative requirements
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and the community
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff, including supervision in line with RPEQ requirements
  • Champion safety and sustainability across all project phases

The Ideal Candidate:

    You are a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) with significant experience managing road infrastructure projects, from design through to delivery. You're solutions-focused, collaborative, and highly organized with a strong commitment to safety and quality.

  • Demonstrated experience managing the full lifecycle of road infrastructure projects, particularly in urban and high-speed road environments
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, procurement processes, and tender evaluation
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, manage expectations, and address public enquiries
  • Sound knowledge of project governance, safety protocols, and relevant legislation and standards

Essential Requirements:

    A four-year Washington Accord accredited Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia), RPEQ registration (or eligible and committed to obtaining it), Current Class C driver's licence, White Card (Construction Industry Induction), Provision of suitable PPE, Ability to pass a Criminal History Check.
