Electrical Maintenance Supervisor

Orange, Australia Newcrest Mining Full time

Reporting to the Superintendent – Electrical Maintenance, the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor will ensure the assets within the Concentrators, including the Blayney Filter Plant, Gold Room, and ancillary infrastructure, are maintained to achieve the required rate at the required utilisation while realising maximum metal recovery and optimum concentrate grade.

The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Concentrator One Crushing and Screening
  • Concentrator One Grinding
  • Concentrator One T1 & T2 Flotation
  • Concentrator One T3 Flotation
  • Concentrator Two Grinding
  • Concentrator Two Flotation
  • CVO Filter Plant
  • CVO Gold Room
  • Molly Plant
  • Site Utilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all electrical installations comply with relevant Australian standards.
  • Maintaining a structured maintenance system and ensuring its compliance by the work team.
  • Conducting shift change over meetings and providing quality information and direction to the oncoming shift.
  • Regularly reviewing backlogs to ensure work orders are completed or re-scheduled.
  • Documenting and following up on safety incidents and hazards.
  • Ensuring completion of all maintenance tasks.
  • Overseeing investigations into production loss events and executing effective incident management procedures.
  • Highlighting and communicating critical issues to the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Scheduler, Operations Coordinator, and Maintenance Foreman.
  • Maintaining productive relationships with Operations, SAOC, Asset Management, Planning, Supply, and contracting companies.
  • Ensuring pre-start checks on mobile equipment/vehicles, welders, lifting equipment, and overhead cranes are completed.
  • Ensuring compliance with work order completion.
  • Ensuring electrical installations comply with relevant Australian standards.
  • Ensuring Technicians capture and raise issues within their respective areas using provided tools and systems.

Scheduling and People Responsibilities:

  • Effectively managing the respective roster to ensure adequate personnel are available for required work, including effective communication of the roster to the work team.
  • Ensuring personnel are trained to required competency levels.
  • Ensuring Technicians adhere to work order-related documents, including JSEA's, CSRA's, SWI's, and other relevant compliance requirements.
  • Completing OCCC's (or HRT's) at the required rate and to the required standard, when rolled.
  • Contributing positively to Supervisor meetings to ensure issues are raised, discussed, and resolved.

People and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Developing a documented training plan to direct crew development in skill areas deemed necessary for individual and business development.
  • Supporting and promoting a business improvement culture by encouraging reports to enter ideas, overseeing their management, and removing roadblocks.
  • Supporting and promoting a positive safety culture by encouraging Technicians to complete Hazard Cards.
  • Conducting a minimum of 4 Field Critical Control Checks per roster cycle.
  • Supporting and promoting a safe workplace by ensuring the use of See Stop Controls and JSEA's, and the continual review of these documents.
  • Building and maintaining a positive, productive team culture.
  • Effectively rolling out monthly safety presentations to the work team.

The ideal candidate will have a safety focus and the ability to improve the safety culture within the team and department.
