Community Neuro Speech Therapist

We are seeking an experienced Speech Therapist to provide high-quality services to adults with neurological conditions in the community.

About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position (38 hours per week), with part-time options available. You will work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to support clients achieve their goals.

You will see clients with neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and Parkinson's Disease, and provide assessment, intervention, goal setting, and outcome measurement using an evidence-based approach.

You will also have opportunities to participate in projects, team meetings, social catch-ups, and professional development activities.

Your Day-to-Day

You will work closely with clients, their families, and supports to identify their needs and develop individualised plans. You will assess clients' communication, swallowing, and cognitive-communication abilities, and provide targeted interventions to improve their function and participation in daily life.

You will also liaise with external providers, such as funding bodies, to advocate for your clients and ensure they receive the best possible care.

  • A current driver's license and suitable vehicle
  • A passion for working in the community
  • An interest in working with adults with neurological conditions
  • Self-motivation and a commitment to lifelong learning
  • The ability to work autonomously and seek support when required

You will also have the following desirable skills and experiences:

  • Experience working in the community and with adults with neurological conditions
  • Understanding of funding models and schemes
  • Ability to manage complex clinical and social situations with support as needed
  • Good organisation and time management skills
