Specialist Gynaecological Oncology Position

This is an unaccredited training position in gynaecological oncology, ideal for a pre-FRANZCOG trainee seeking to gain advanced surgical skills and experience in treating cancer patients.

Job Description:
  • Assist as primary or assistant surgeon under direct supervision during surgical procedures for gynaecological cancer patients
  • Provide daily medical and surgical care of patients with gynaecological oncology conditions, under supervision, especially for peritonectomy patients collaborating with the gastrointestinal surgery team
  • Conduct teaching sessions for registrars, residents, and medical students
  • Undertake a research project involving gynaecological cancer treatment and management
  • Make significant contributions to the development of the hospital as a leading tertiary referral centre
  • Engage in private practice clinic activities
  • Participate in surgeries at Prince of Wales Private Hospital every second Saturday
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a career in gynaecological oncology or acquiring advanced surgical skills
  • Registration with the New South Wales Medical Board or eligibility for registration
  • Pre-FRANZCOG certification (year 5-6)
  • Previous clinical and research experience, preferably with gynaecological cancer patients
  • Knowledge and skills in complex gynaecological procedures and gynaecological oncology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational abilities
  • Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care
  • Able to mentor and teach junior team members
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety and completing mandatory training
