We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bushfire Mitigation Coordinator to join our team.
About the Role:The Bushfire Mitigation Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating mitigation strategies and education programs across rural communities, working closely with stakeholders to build robust bushfire mitigation networks. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and mentor teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement bushfire mitigation strategies and activities across rural communities.
- Lead and manage a team of Bushfire Mitigation Officers and Fire Wardens to ensure brigades and partners are supported in delivering bushfire mitigation activities.
- Mentor and support Area Managers and Brigades with bushfire operations support as required.
- Manage the Permit to Light Fire system in the district and work with the Bushfire Mitigation Unit to identify and implement strategies to enhance its functionality.
- Support bushfire risk data management through identifying trends, patterns of non-compliance, and issues in the district.
- Hold a rank of substantive Inspector or Rural Officer Two (RFSO2) with the appropriate skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining bushfire competencies and operating in a regional team environment.
- Ability to travel and work within their area of responsibility and participate in intrastate and/or interstate deployment and travel.
- Flexibility to work day shifts, night shifts, and weekends as part of the role.
