Rural Fire Service Support Role

The position involves working in a team environment to support rural fire services, particularly in volunteer-based settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day operational and business support to local brigades, ensuring they are equipped to effectively protect the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to rural fires and other emergency incidents to provide operational support, mentoring and leadership.
  • Support operational preparedness by maintaining equipment registers and conducting station audits.
  • Assist with bushfire mitigation activities, including identifying risks and providing advice to landowners.
  • Collaborate with Operational Capability Coordinators to assist brigades with planning, procuring, and maintaining equipment.
  • Support fleet and station maintenance plans, and assist with managing unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Attend Rural Fire Brigade meetings to provide updates, expert advice, and support governance requirements.
  • Coordinate training delivery and facilitation across the Area, District, and Region.
Requirements:
  • A proven commitment to maintaining bushfire competencies and operating in a team environment.
  • Capacity to participate in out-of-hours shifts during disaster operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of concepts, strategies, and issues associated with managing rural fire services.
