Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team at our Dampier Salt Operations in Port Hedland. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across our fleet of heavy mobile equipment.

This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated trades person who is looking for a long-term career in mining. The role requires the ability to work in an exciting environment within the Mobile Maintenance Team and report directly to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety and possess excellent mechanical skills. They will also have experience in maintaining and servicing heavy mobile equipment and hold a current Australian manual driver's licence.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and comply with all relevant policies and procedures
  • Maintain the harvester and tractor fleet and determine repair actions when required
  • Maintain the CAT and Komatsu dozer fleet and determine repair actions when required
  • Maintain the SCANIA haul truck/trailer fleet
  • Maintain the auxiliary equipment fleet of CAT graders, excavators, water truck and other MEM equipment
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects – increasing safety whilst reducing risk and cost
Required Skills and Qualifications

The following qualifications and skills are essential for this role:

  • A commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures
  • A Heavy Duty Fitter or Plant Mechanic trade qualification
  • Experience in maintaining and servicing heavy mobile equipment
  • Australian manual driver's licence
  • Eligibility to work in Australia without requiring visa sponsorship
